Pub Cleaning Essentials

Pub Cleaning Essentials

Finally the pubs are allowed to open after the second national lockdown. But if you are a pub owner you have a lot more rules to worry about than before. Pub cleaning is one of the services we’ve been offering for many years, and in 2020, it has become ever so specific.

Commercial Kitchen Cleaning

Let’s start from the kitchen cleaning essential. Usually that’s something the staff does in-house on a daily basis, but if it requires a more thorough deep clean, the professionals (like us) get involved. Actually, a deep kitchen clean after a long period of commercial closure and before the holidays is highly recommended. You want to make sure that all surfaces, fridges and food storage spaces are clean, tidy, pest-free and disinfected.

Behind the Bar

Just like in the kitchen, an extremely high level of hygiene behind the bar is vital. Especially in pandemic times. We always recommend the use of virucidal cleaning products to sanitise all surfaces where drinks and some food products are handled.

The Ambience

Obviously, you would have had to rearrange part of the ambience to ensure proper social distancing between customers. But on top of that you also need to provide a safe and sanitised environment for the consumption of food and drinks. It’s important to recognise the difference between antibacterial and virucidal cleaners. Many people still make the mistake to use antibacterial sprays or solutions to sanitise the tables and seating. While these are effective against common germs and bacteria, they will not protect the customers from viruses. Professional cleaning products are much better and certainly more effective than the ones you could buy in stores, for example.

The Toilets

Impeccable hygiene in the toilets and restrooms is an absolute essential part of pub cleaning. Daily disinfection and freshening up are not enough in the current global conditions. Public toilets must be supplied with hand soap and sanitiser at all times.

As an owner of a pub, restaurant or other hospitality and entertainment venue, you have a lot of rules and regulations to follow. Remembering all new and specific requirements is extremely stressful. We would like to be a partner to your business and take at least part of the mental burden providing high quality professional cleaning services. We are very experienced in servicing commercial properties and spent months updating our knowledge and skills. Our staff is relevantly trained, qualified and certified. Trusting us to take care of the hygiene safety in your premises will allow you to focus on other essential parts of running and growing your business.

Pre-Christmas Cleaning Checklist

Pre-Christmas Cleaning Checklist

The great news is that despite all the uncertainty in 2020, we will be able to visit and spend Christmas with our families and friends. That’s absolutely fantastic. But also, since you might be hosting a mini (or not so mini) party at your home, deep cleaning before the holidays is back on the table. To make it easier for all of you who want to brace it themselves, we put together a Pre-Christmas Cleaning Checklist.

The Exterior

Ugh! That’s tough, cold and unpleasant. Yes, we know, but you must make sure the facade and the exterior of your home also look presentable. After all, that's the very first thing your guests will see when they arrive. Furthermore, a good clean is essential before you put up all the outdoor decorations and Christmas lights. To be entirely honest, that's probably a job that should always be left to the professionals. There are cleaning companies who specialise in exterior cleaning and they would do a brilliant job.

The Hall

Moving on to the next spot of your guests’ journey in your home - the hall. It’s very important for that place to be well organised, clean and tidy. It is worth setting up a system mirroring that of a cloakroom. Shoes, bags and coats must have designated spaces to go to. Not only to avoid mixing up, but also to minimise the risk of contamination with bacteria and viruses brought from outside.

The Bathroom

The bathroom must be squeaky clean and sanitised before the arrival of your guests. Use antibacterial and virucidal cleaning products prior to the party. Don’t forget you have to do the exact same thing after your visitors leave too.

We also recommend leaving a scented candle or an air freshener in the bathroom to give it a more homely and nice feeling.

The Guest Bedrooms

If your guests are staying over you must get their room in the right inviting and relaxing condition. A deep clean is a good idea, especially if the room is not used most of the time. Wash the pillows and duvets, put fresh linen on, make sure there’s no dust built up on the furniture and ventilate well to allow free flow of fresh air.

Finishing touches like a bouquet of flowers, candles or natural air fresheners with essential oils always go a long way. They could make your guests feel really special and welcome.

The Kitchen

You absolutely cannot skip the kitchen. That’s actually a top priority on your pre-Christmas cleaning checklist whether you are expecting any guests or not. Christmas is traditionally associated with a lot of cooking and none of those meals will taste delicious if they are cooked in a dirty oven or messy stoves. Not to mention the health risks of letting your kitchen go without a deep clean before the holidays.

The Living Room

We know the living room will be the place where the most action happens during the festivities. But we purposely left it last on the checklist because you will be cleaning up until the last minute before your guests arrive. First and most important thing is to create space. So, if you are naturally someone who is prone to cluttering, that has to change now. The more unnecessary stuff you have lying around in your living room, the less space you get to actually have fun with your family and friends.

All this may sound a little overwhelming, especially in such a short period of time. But hey, that’s exactly why we are here! Give us a call and we will do our best to come straight to the rescue!

Cleaning Can Be Fun

As someone who has been doing this job for close to 20 years, I can honestly say, I wouldn't be able to if I didn't love it. Many people see cleaning as an annoying chore and a task they would rather have someone else to do. It works well for my business, but for me this is much more than just a business. So, today I wanted to show you that cleaning can be fun. Really!

Get the family involved

Probably not applicable to all families, but in most cases cleaning becomes fun if you get everybody involved. You don't need to give orders, but try and play it out like a game. It is especially beneficial to children. They get to spend some quality family time, while on a "quest" and build important life skills and habits. It can be used also as a bonding time for couples. If you share your life together, why can't you share the cleaning too?

Use the time to think and relax mentally

Again, maybe this is not for everyone, but I have heard many women (and men!) say that cleaning soothes them. If they do it all by themselves, they use that time to really hear their thoughts and even plan for the future. I can testify to that personally. I love cleaning all by myself, immersing in my inner thoughts.

Make a plan

Cleaning can be fun when you make a plan and split the load. Surely, no one will be excited if they have to spend the whole day scrubbing a huge house. But it doesn't have to get to that. Do little every day and you will see how after a few weeks you will get used to it and look forward for the next task at hand.

Get your favourite music on

Oh, this is a really good one! Cleaning while listening to your favourite music is nothing but fun! You can throw a few dance moves in with the vacuum cleaner, just like Mrs. Doubtfire.

It's all about your attitude

In the end, it always comes to how you really feel about cleaning. Perhaps you genuinely dislike it and no matter what you try you still won't find it fun. But maybe all you need is just a little change of perspective. For all the years I've done this job and built a successful business on it, I never stopped feeling this great satisfaction, whenever I leave a home spotless and refreshed. It is a sense of achievement that comes from the fact I made someone's home a more cosy and pleasant place to come to. It makes me even happier when I do it for my own family, because I know all the benefits of a clean and safe home.

What are your thoughts on cleaning? Do you hate it or do you think you might give it a go and with a little change in perspective like it? Either way, you know Bredon Hill Cleaning Services will always be happy to lend you a helping hand when you need it.

Yours truly,

Hristina

Summer Cleaning Checklist

Summer is finally and undeniably here. That’s very exciting, but it also means you have to put some more effort into cleaning your home. Although hot temperatures are bad for viruses and we can take a breather from the infamous COVID-19 spread of infections, bacterias thrive in warm and humid weather. Planning a holiday soon or opting for a staycation, either way you will have to roll up your sleeves and swipe the dirt away. And since everyone knows checklists are much easier to follow, we’ve prepared a summer cleaning checklist by room for you.

The Living Room

We always start from the top and work our way to the bottom. So, you should complete these tasks in the following order.

  • Remove all cobwebs from the ceiling corners and walls.
  • Dust the light fixtures.
  • Clean the inside of the windows.
  • Wipe clean all doors, door handles, sockets and light switches.
  • Spot clean the walls.
  • Dust and wipe all hard surfaces.
  • Wash the couch cushions and clean the upholstery if you know how to safely.
  • Sort out all clutter and put in bags for charity or disposal.
  • Wipe clean the skirting boards and pay attention to the edges.
  • Vacuum or mop the floor.

The Kitchen

The kitchen will take you quite a long time to finish, but it is absolutely crucial you leave it spotless for the summer.

  • Empty the pantry and the dry cupboards. Dispose of all food past its expiration date.
  • Empty the fridge and defrost if needed.
  • Wipe clean all shelves and sections in the fridge.
  • Wipe the shelves and the cupboards inside and out.
  • Disinfect the handles.
  • Clean the oven.
  • Clean the stoves.
  • Clean the dishwasher.
  • Wipe and disinfect all working tops.
  • Wash and disinfect the sink.
  • Empty the bin and disinfect if needed.
  • Mop and disinfect the floor.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is the other top priority on your summer cleaning checklist. High hygiene standards in that place are extremely important.

  • Dust and wash the air vents or windows.
  • Remove any cobwebs from the ceiling or walls.
  • Scrub the shower cabin, shower head, bathtub and the toilet.
  • Scrub the tile grouts.
  • Wipe all hard surfaces.
  • Wipe the vanity inside and out.
  • Wash and disinfect the sink.
  • Empty the bin and sanitise.
  • Wash and disinfect the toilet brush.
  • Mop and disinfect the floor.

Bonus: Add a scented candle or diffuser with essential oils to spread fresh and energising aromas.

The Bedrooms

If you were hoping for less work in the bedroom, we would have to disappoint you. There’s definitely a lot to do.

  • Remove all cobwebs from the ceiling and walls.
  • Spot clean the walls.
  • Wash the windows from the inside.
  • Wash the curtains.
  • Wipe and dust all hard surfaces, including light fixtures, sockets and light switches.
  • Declutter and rearrange your closet.
  • Wash all the bedding, including the pillows and duvet.
  • Dust any air vents.
  • Wipe clean the skirting boards.
  • Vacuum or mop the floor.

To finish off your summer cleaning checklist, complete these outside tasks:

  • Wash the windows from the outside.
  • Wash and clean the patio.
  • Mow the grass and clear the garden.
  • Declutter and rearrange the garage and/or the garden shed.
  • Wash all outside furniture.

Sounds like fun? Get to work. But if you think that’s too much for you, we don’t mind stepping in.
